Mary Helen Staton
Mary Helen Staton, 95, of Maplewood Avenue, Waverly, Ohio died 8:51 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Pike Community Hospital, Waverly.
She was born September 14, 1914 in Terre Haute, Indiana the daughter of the late Iliff Leslie Chisler and Jessie Ann (Taylor) Chisler. On May 11, 1935 she was united in marriage to James Wilbur Staton who preceded her in death on May 10, 1990.
Surviving are two sons, James W. Staton, Jr. and wife Lucyle of Jonesboro, Tennessee and Jack L. Staton of Waverly; two daughters, Alice A. Ward and husband William of Waverly and Mary H. Hendrickson of Terre Haute, Indiana; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Tatlock of Terre Haute and two sisters-in-law who were also beloved friends, Mabel Staton of Las Vegas, Nevada and June Chisler Anglin of Terre Haute.
In addition to her parents and husband, two brothers, Ralph and Clarence Chisler and one sister, Dorothy Myers preceded Mary in death.
Mary was a homemaker, former member of Terre Haute Grace United Methodist Church, 50 year member and past worthy matron of Waverly Chapter 99 O.E.S. and grand representative to Delaware, member of 12 Points Chapter 525, Terre Haute, 50 year member of American Legion Merritt Post 142 Ladies Auxiliary, member of White Shrine, Portsmouth Chapter 35 and a member of V.F.W. Post 972, Terre Haute Ladies Auxiliary.
Callings hours will not be observed. Burial will take place at the convenience of her family. Memorial contributions may be made to In Care Hospice, 681 East Third Street, Waverly, OH 45690.
